Lowest exceptional drought percentage in Oklahoma since the end of July, said Gary McManus, Oklahoma Climatological Survey

Thurday’s U.S. Drought Monitor report shows 11.80 percent of Oklahoma, primarily southwest and the Panhandle, are in exceptional drought. That’s the lowest amount of exceptional drought in Oklahoma since July 31, 2012, when the percentage was 5.2, said Gary McManus, Oklahoma Climatological Survey.

By August 21, there was 48.1 percent of Oklahoma in the exceptional drought category.
