Forecast for Christmas Eve, Christmas for Oklahoma Panhandle, from the National Weather Service, Amarillo, Texas
Source: National Weather Service, Amarillo, Texas Forecast Office:
The forecast continues to look on track. Although models still are not in great agreement relative to depth/strength of the anticipated storm system late on Christmas Eve/early Christmas Day, the general signal of the eastern Oklahoma Panhandle and northeastern Texas Panhandle being favored for snow between 06-12z on the 25th remains consistent. Given the pattern and brief window of opportunity for moderate/heavy snow – current forecast amounts upwards of 2-4 inches in those favored areas are still valid. CIPS analog guidance supports this idea with a 30% probability of snowfall >2 inches over mainly the Oklahoma Panhandle and the far northern Texas Panhandle.
