Earthquake waves move differently through the ground, depending on soil stability. A short distance away it may not feel as strong. Then again, maybe they didn’t know it was an earthquake if it didn’t last a long time. Loma Prieta in SF was only 10 seconds, mercifully. Another half minute and I might not be typing this right now.

It was the very first time I felt an earthquake. Never felt them in my hometown of Roanoke, Virginia. But being here in Oklahoma now, this was the first one I experienced, ever. It came right down here through this little town of Sasakwa and yanked my trailer house like it was attached to a tractor, hard, 3 times. My birds went crazy. Strange thing was, a friend of mine a mile down from me and I were the only ones who felt that. What is wrong with people who didn’t feel that?

I’m from San Francisco and we experienced 4 or 5 earthquakes like this every year. Calling this terrifying event wimpy is a total lack of compassion and unintelligent. Yes, you get used to it, but try to remember your first one.

i think its from all the oil drilling thats been going on for all these years causing big cracks in the earths crust

I felt it in Anadarko. I was at my desk and I know it lasted a good 2 to 3 seconds. I thought someone was behind me messing with my chair and as I turned and there was nobody behind me I just thought I was nuts. When my coworker who shares an office with me did not appear to notice anything I did not bother to say anything in fear that I would sound crazy. It felt like a gently swaying back and forth, almost like being on a raft in the water.

Felt it in Yukon on 10th & Garth Brooks Blvd. Not the first I’ve felt here in Oklahoma but stronger than the one I felt almost 9 mo ago.

A 5.1 is a wimpy little quake, hardly worth a mention on the 6 o’clock news here in Southern California! Needs to about a 6.0 to get our attention.

Felt it in OKC on reno and council. I was in my car and the whole car shook and I hear a ‘boom’. I thought someone hit me.
