WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS EFFECTIVE AFTER 3 PM.

THIS OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS AS WELL AS
MUCH OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA.

WINTER WEATHER.
SNOW ACCUMULATION.
RISK…LIMITED.
AREA…EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS.
ONSET…LATE AFTERNOON.

DISCUSSION…
AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM ACROSS NORTHERN MEXICO WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA
THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO
PARTS OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA THIS AFTERNOON…AND OVERSPREAD THE ENTIRE
REGION OVERNIGHT. PRECIPITATION MAY START AS A RAIN AND SNOW MIX
LATE THIS AFTERNOON…WITH ALL SNOW EXPECTED OVERNIGHT. ONE TO TWO
INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF EASTERN

SNOW

AFFECTED AREA…

ALL OF THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES…WITH THE GREATEST IMPACT
ACROSS THE SOUTHERN SECTION OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE WHERE THE HEAVIEST
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED.

FORECAST TIMING OF THE EVENT…

SNOW WILL SPREAD FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST ACROSS THE TEXAS AND
THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES BY THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO THIS
EVENING. THE SNOW WILL THEN END FROM WEST TO EAST THIS EVENING WITH
THE SNOW ENDING LAST ACROSS THE FAR EASTERN SECTIONS OF THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE TONIGHT.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS…

SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
TEXAS PANHANDLE…WITH GENERALLY LESS THAN AN INCH ACROSS THE
OKLAHOMA AND THE REMAINDER OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLES. ROADS MAY BECOME
SNOWPACKED AND ICY…MAINLY ACROSS THE SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE.
MOTORISTS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME
CAUTION WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROADS AND HIGHWAYS THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT.

DISCUSSION…

A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE IN THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE WILL LIFT NORTHEAST
OUT OF THE SOUTHWESTERN STATES THIS MORNING AND APPROACH THE TEXAS
AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES BY THIS AFTERNOON. A COLD AIR MASS WILL BE
IN PLACE OVER THE PANHANDLES TODAY AND TONIGHT WHILE A SOUTHERLY
SURFACE FLOW WILL BRING PLENTY OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE INTO THE AREA.
THE MAIN BAND OF PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER LEVEL TROUGH
WILL SPREAD FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST OUT OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO
AND FAR WEST TEXAS THIS MORNING AND THEN NORTHEAST ACROSS THE TEXAS
AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES THIS AFTERNOON TONIGHT. THIS WILL PUT THE
OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE…AND MOST OF THE NORTHERN SECTION OF THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE ON THE NORTHERN FRINGE OF THE SNOW.
