Short-term forecast from NWS, Norman

By 12:30 p.m., the Oklahoma Mesonet Stations at Freedom and Alva had reached 110 degrees while the Mesonet at Buffalo had reached 109 degrees.

Here’s a look the short-term forecase from the National Weather Service’s Norman Forecast Office:

AROUND NOON…REGIONAL RADAR DATA INDICATED WIDELY SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND A FEW STORMS ACROSS PARTS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN
KANSAS.  THE PRECIPITATION WAS MOVING EAST AROUND 20 MPH.
A FEW OF THESE SHOWERS MAY MOVE ACROSS FAR NORTHERN OKLAHOMA
NEAR MEDFORD AND NEWKIRK. 

OTHERWISE VERY HOT CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON
UNDER MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES.  A FEW LOCATIONS ACROSS NORTHERN
OKLAHOMA WILL EXCEED 110 DEGREES AS DRY SOUTHWEST WINDS BLOW
AT 15 TO 25 MPH.  A FEW GUSTS NEAR 40 MPH WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.
