Scary report on gun purchases

The Christian Science Monitor is reporting that about 900 people on the FBI’s terrorist watch list have passed background checks to buy a gun.

That is kind of worrisome no matter how you feel about the Second Amendment, isn’t it?

It depends on the criteria for determining terrorist status, and whether that definition is static or fluid – influenced for political gain or strictly data driven. I’m more worried that we don’t have know how this is deduced rather than a data set found by unknown means.

Just a thought exercise: It is likely that there are far more unknown terrorists that gained entry through our southern border than the 900 on the list who purchased guns. Do you suppose those terrorists actually fill out 4473s?

If Lautenberg and the like were really concerned with security they’d be working to stop such obvious gaps in our defenses. That they would rather look the other way for their own political gain scares me more.
