The right of the individual to remove himself from the gene pool through his own stupidity should never be infringed on: it IS for the greater good of the whole. Only if his freedoms seriously abridge the freedoms of others did the old individualist America take official interest. Whether he is infringing should be determined in this case through air pollution tests in said domiciles, not through blanket prohibitions of all citizens everywhere. If found guilty the smoker should pay for it and if not the complainant, fair enough. The new People’s Republic of NAFTA on the other hand may put the greater good (even of Mexico)above the individual Amerikans’ right to life liberty and the pursuit of whatever turns his screws.

Because I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke, I would appreciate being able to rent without having to worry about that. I can smell it very easily, even when I wasn’t thinking about it. However, I think people who smoke should have rights too, they should be able to have an apartment that they can smoke in. I guess the best thing is to have smokers apartments and non smokers apartments. That way, each would have their own.

I personally think, that this is a legitime decision. See, second hand smoke seriously harms the health of people. Many smokers feel as if non-smokers just want to take away their joy of smoking, but really the reason why non-smokers are bothered of smoking is that smoking is really bothering for non-smokers.
