Obama and the Cherokee Freedmen
The Hill, a newspaper that covers Capitol Hill, reports that Sen. Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat who has all but wrapped up his party’s presidential nomination, has taken a stance against legislation that would punish the Cherokee Nation for voting to exclude the descendants of freed slaves who don’t have Cherokee blood.
Obama’s stance puts him at odds with the Congressional Black Caucus, which wants to cut off funds to the Cherokees. According to The Hill, Obama wants to let the cases in a federal appeals court and in the Cherokee’s court system run their course before taking action in Congress.

Calf Fries and the U.S. Senate Race
What are the chances?
You’ve just arrived in Oklahoma and you wind up on a ranch where a friendly guy in a cowboy hat hands you a big bag of calf fries.
You could live in the state all your life and never enjoy such a seminal Oklahoma experience. Truly, you could probably live in Oklahoma all your life and not know what calf fries are.
But a staff member of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, in Oklahoma to help state Sen. Andrew Rice in his race against Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, recently documented her good fortune and even shared some footage of Rice and her eating the delicacies. Her assessment: kind of mushy.
