This shows us that the internet and social networking are not useless like some predecessors have claimed that it is. This reminds me of the many conflicts and wars in other countries that I heard nothing about on the news or in newspapers, but was completely educated on it from sites like Twitter and Facebook. But unfortunately, there is usually not much that a person reading it can do. Luckily for this case, someone saw this video and was able to keep the journalists away from a sure death.

This is a reminder of how much impact the social media can have. In just minutes videos, pictures, and songs can go viral. Although lots of videos are merely entertainment, others are very important and need to be seen. It is awesome to know that word would have gotten out about the four people held captive, just by them making a video. The Kony video was such a huge deal and I was so amazed by the amount of impact it made. On a smaller scale, even the videos done by Jeff Bethke on sexual healing and why i hate religion became insanely popular. The social media is impacting society and changing it altogether.
