I think that you bring up a very good point. I think that we have been formed by our society that we always need to be busy and it is weird if we are not multitasking. I think of the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42 when it comes to this topic. Like you said, are we going to embrace the moment we live in now, or are we going to worry about what we have to do and potentially miss something important in this case being in Jesus' presence? I hope that people, especially Christians take the time to slow down, embrace the day, and be able to focus on one thing at a time. I know I struggle with this as well, but I am slowly learning that there is a healthy kind of busy and an unhealthy kind of busy can ruin relationships with one another and God.

I have never thought of it that way before: if we are not multitasking we feel we are wasting time. The irony is: by multitasking we are wasting time because we are not able to fully focus on one thing and hence scatter our thoughts. Like you mentioned, we truly miss out on the wonderful moments in life where we can just sit back and be in the moment. Do you think that our society's inclination toward might have some influence on our stress level as a nation?

I love this blog. It reminds me of a simple time and a time where electronics meant nothing and family time meant everything. This blog proves that it is possible to live without a cellphone, laptop, digital camera and a phone bill with over 5.000 text messages.

In relation to class this week you have written about a world that seems so long ago but a world that was possible. I struggled this week in making an argument against media being an institution that has the most impact on our daily lives but this blog shows me it's possible for it not to have the most impact.

Jim,

As always, Jim, your words have captured reality so well.
Thanks for walking me back through that storybook time when
we staying with these dear grandparents at 810 Oak Avenue.

Thanks for jarring a desire in me to at least turn off the cell phone and engage in the moment.
