The Kevin Durant Christmas Shoe

Here’s a look at the shoe Kevin Durant is supposed to wear Christmas night for the season opener against Orlando.

Not really my speed. But I’m sure there’s a market out there for them. Also, not sure I understand what they’re doing here with the copper colorway. According to dimemag.com, its a homage to the Foamposites, which every D.C.-area kid wanted for Christmas back in the day.

I do know this. If Nike hasn’t made every single color imaginable in Durant’s latest installment of his signature line then they’re dang close. I’m not big into the shoe scene, but it seems like great marketing to me. Durant’s line has a great price point, but then Nike pushes every color down your throat, including “Nerf” and “Weatherman” editions to make sneaker heads want to cop ‘em all. Not a bad strategy.

Anyway, what y’all think about these Christmas joints?

Durant’s Christmas-Day Kicks

Kevin Durant never needs anything to help him stand out on the court.

But on Christmas Day, the Thunder’s star will shine brighter than any other player on the Thunder or the Denver Nuggets.

And it will be because of Durant’s shoes.

According to Dime Magazine, Durant will sport a special edition version of his latest signature shoe, the KD III, during Saturday’s nationally televised, 7 p.m. contest against the Nuggets. And the shoe is yellow.

Now, I’m on record of saying the latest installment of Durant’s signature shoe is the sweetest style yet. But I’m a fan of the all black variety. These yellow joints? Not so much. I’m not exactly sure why players wear such loud shoes whenever it’s a special occasion like a Christmas Day game or during All-Star Weekend. Perhaps it’s the shoe companies trying to bring as much attention to the shoe as possible. Maybe it works. Maybe it doesn’t. I’m blogging about it, so maybe I’m falling into the trap. But would a simpler but still specially-designed variation not generate the same buzz?

At any rate, it’s an interesting choice for Durant, who typically likes to be more low key.

I can only imagine what Carmelo Anthony might slip on his feet.
