Many here have long ago made up their mind about Reggie Jackson, especially those who've convinced themselves that he's a failure. I'm convinced that many here want him to fail while on the court.

What I see in Jackson is a player who's continuously improved and has earned a spot in the NBA. I'm also convinced that Jackson is merely at the beginning of his blossoming.

Last season I said that Jackson played frenetic without composure and was erratic, but Jackson revealed and held confidence in himself.

As this season has progressed, Jackson has progressed, less frenetic and more composed, as the game has slowed down for him.

Steve, where in Todd's comments on Eric Maynor did Todd even suggest that everything is great in Thunderland, that the Thunder are doing just fine?

Maybe I'm also too narrow minded in the reading in black and white. Does your imagination in reading always wonder off into dreamville?

Just to be clear, I never said that Eric Maynor didn't get a chance to prove himself, or even that he deserved to play over Reggie Jackson. I think Reggie earned the backup spot and has played well. My point was in regard to Fisher who I assumed was being brought in to replace Eric as the third point guard which is a necessity to protect us against injuries and foul trouble. I think it's interesting that we will now play all 3 point guards according to Coach Brooks' comments. I would have liked to see Eric get that same chance as he got healthier, that's all. I was anticipating that the Thunder would trade Eric and I'm glad he'll get a chance to play in Portland.

Todd, you are still narrow minded that to you everything is going great. Maybe you need to chill your ideas, that the Thunder are just doing fine. They were the number one at one point and now number three in the NBA, do you think that they are staying there or still slipping downwards?

You tell us how your foresight for the Thunder is going, up or down? Can you bet that the Thunder will be champions ths year or even reach the finals?

Maynor had around 25 games to show he was back to his old self. He wasn't able to do so. Jackson was ready, got his shot, and did well enough that Brooks felt like he had earned the spot. But it's simply wrong to say that Maynor never had a chance to prove himself. Yes he did.

That said, it was less than a year from his ACL injury, and truth be told he was doing well to be playing that soon at all. See Derrick Rose for a little supporting evidence. But all things considered, including that it was a contract year for Maynor, OKC couldn't afford to wait and see if and when he got back to normal.

I hated losing him and I hope he does well in Portland. And I also hope he gets a good contract this summer. But OKC made the right move in trading him.

[...] Darnell Mayberry: “I’ve not been a proponent of Perk guarding point guards. Seems pointless to have “the league’s best low post defender” D’ing up 40 and even 80 feet away from the basket. But he was terrific tonight. Perk pestered Vasquez and forced him into wild shots and quick decisions. Perk was so good it looked like a mismatch in favor of the Thunder. Rarely, if ever tonight, could Vasquez blow by Perk. On one second half possession when Vasquez tried, Perk soundly slid his feet to stay in front of him and blocked his shot once Vasquez forced up a shot near the paint.” [...]

I guess this shows that Scott Brooks thinks Fisher is a much better player than Eric Maynor, or at least that he values him much more. Eric never got the chance to play meaningful minutes once Scott decided Reggie was the backup point guard. Eric was relugated to being the third, emergency point, and playing garbage time at the very end of blowouts. He was typically the last guy off the bench. In comes Fisher (BTW I agree totally with bringing him on board) and suddenly the third point is going to share the backup minutes and play huge alongside Russell and Reggie. Kind of a slap in the face to Eric. I'm vaery happy for Eric to be on a gteam that can play him and value his contributions. I think having Fish to fill that emergency third guard role is a great aquisition, but I was surprised the way Scott used him, considering he was out of the league. Scott can't figure out how to use Brewer though, even though he's been very effective and league wide considered to be one of the best defenders in the league. I guess that says a lot more than Scott's consistent statements aboutus being a defensive team first and foremost. It isn't what coaches say that counts, it's what they emphasize!
