Maynor has yet to show anything this year that's he's a capable backup pg. He played great before the injury but since he's underperformed. Westbrook goes out there and puts in all on the line every game. In many games when the team lacks energy, who is the one player still hustling around every time? Who is the player that hasn't missed a game since highschool? Who is the player that is the first to congratulate Durant everytime he makes a good play? Is Westbrook perfect? No, but he's also in his early 20's. Westbrook also left money on the table to stay here.. A certain player comes to mind that was unwilling to do so. If he wants so badly to be the guy why didn't he bolt for the bigger contract and the possibility to do so? The only player that can stop Westbrook is Westbrook. How many points do people want Durant to score? He's led the league in scoring the past 2 years and if he continues what he's doing now he will be in the same company as mj and wilt. Westbrook constantly feeds Durant in the 4th which is my biggest complaint. They need to include Martin more which is as much Durants fault as westbrooks.

@Gus,Miami won with without a true pg.The Lakers won every championship in the Kobe era without one.The Bulls won there second 3 without one and during the first 3-peat BJ Armstrong was mostly a spectator.In fact,the only teams to win with a traditional pg in the last 20 years have been Detroit,San Antonio,and Boston.

@Red,I wasn't talking about you.I was talking about the haters.

@Steve,not"will be","was" impotent.Im not theorizing.That point as already been proved.As far as the rest of it,some people just can't appreciate when they have good thing.No,we can't be happy to have a top 5 pg who brings it every night and is never hurt.We have to delude ourselves with the idea that we can do better.

@Todd,exactly
@Buck,no democracy isn't dead.Free thinking may be though.A hater is a hater,a lover is a lover.There is a lot in between,But there's also a complete lack of objectivity and an influx of folks who regurgitate the ideas of others as their own.People can debate facts.But when a person is like "I'm right...because I'm right" and their opinion is the same as a well known media member,there's a natural backlash.

And you do know Todd, is that what you are saying? Are you saying that you alone know the fact of the story and some here don't even know what we are writing?

You must be a prophet, Todd! We are basing all the reports from media, video and comments, now how can you go against all the fats here?

I remember that time that Durant hurt his ankle and missed the game and Westbrook was in-charge, but could not remember if they won or not. He was proud to be the "man" or go to guy during Durant's absence.

BTW, if we comment, as the TNT commented and others have also of the Westbrook saga,then we are branded by the Westbrook lover's as haters? Has democracy died already in Oklahoma? Is it, if you are not with us, you are against us, kind of thing with some of the people here. Can't we say, what we see is what we write here?

Think about what you are saying and how it reflects back to who you are. I don't like it when status quo defines the story.

He's very disrespectful to his teammates? You base that sweeping statement on what, last night's outburst? Come on, people.

Look, Westbrook lost his cool last night, and I rather suspect he knows it. But unless someone here knows firsthand what goes on in the locker room and practice sessions and road trips and everywhere else these guys hang out together away from TV lights and mics, you have no idea of what you speak.

We know from the folks who cover the team that things get, shall we say, "spirited" during practice sessions sometimes. We've also seen Durant bark at guys during games. Is he being disrespectful? Or does stuff happen sometimes even with guys you get along well with?

These guys seem pretty tight, but even tight groups can have issues now and then. And they don't have to be best friends or even like each other off the court, although they seem to. But they just have to gel on the court.

Who here wants to be naive enough to say they don't? Raise your lonely, misinformed hand.
