Russell is my favorite player to watch, because he leaves it all on the floor each game. You just cant teach that, it should be appreciated always. I can only hope that my kids can reach that level of determination and aggression in whatever it is they choose to do.

Now I understand why so many people rag on Russ about his shooting % so far this year.Because if you look at points,assists,rebounds,(adjusted to if it was a blowout and he was taken out of the game early)turnovers,free throws,crunch time defense and whether or not the Thunder won the game….it’s the only thing you CAN rag on him about.

You know, I get people sometimes being frustrated with Westbrook. I get that way myself now and then, even though he’s probably my favorite player on the team. But I also think that Westbrook might be one of the most under-appreciated players of his caliber the league has ever seen. See the comment above for only the latest example. “He has to play smart in the league or may not last long.”

People not only say things like that about Westbrook, they actually mean them.

I do get and sometimes share the occasional frustration with Russ. What I don’t get is the mystifying lack of appreciation for what we get to watch at the Peak and on the tube each season, anytime he takes the court. Westbrook is an incredibly unique talent. When the only thing left is his jersey hanging in the rafters, we’ll miss him. He’s already lasted long enough to ensure us of that.

He has to play smart in the league or may not last long. There have been many players who were shooters (one dimensional player) that just faded away, because other teams don’t want individual players. No one can survive being the lone scorer of the team, that’s why it called team. They have to distribute the ball, rebound, assist and score if open or in a fast break. He should know when to give it up quickly and when it’s time to shoot!
