Was watching the Spurs and Heat game tonight on TNT and was surprised that the Spurs weren’t playing their top 6 players; Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Green, with Jackson and Leonard injured and they almost won the game in the last 7 minutes of the final period. They have an unbelieveable 2nd unit that could match-up with the best Miami’s top players.

That said, the Thunder should start developing their 2nd unit to be as strong as their 1st unit, if they hope to be fresh for a long season, including their centers!

There is one hitch to the story, as I read in this morning’s news, is that the NBA commissioner will put a substantial sanction on the Spurs for resting his top players and sending them home due to a long 11 game stretch wa from home, according to Popovich.

One news analyst said that only a coach like Popovich could demand his 2nd unit to play hard to keep at pace with the defending champions, Heat!

I guess the coach is still the boss in the NBA, but all teams are the same as the Spurs!

I agree with what Don (above) is saying about developing the second unit by Brooks, the only difference is Popovich used his 2nd unit with the defending champions!

As for Perk.I guess the guy that was trying not to complain has the ability to complain without trying.It’s hard to say if the Thunder would be better without him.Would Thabeet have this edge he didn’t have before coming here?Would the team have the toughness they didn’t seem to have before he got here?Is the league wide belief that he’s one of the best post defenders in the NBA warranted?All I know for sure is he’s playing and we’re winning.For the past few years I’ve heard talk of people saying “lets get rid of Thabo.I haven’t heard it this year,I guess,because his 3′s made % is up,but he was hurt last year the first two times we played the Spurs in the regular season and Tony Parker ran circles around us.I think they both make our team better.

It was like Westbrook was trying to prove they traded the right guy..

Big props to Serge and KD. It is easy to take what KD does for granted. But it would be a huge mistake. OKC enjoy him while he is here..

If you want a good laugh, go read the Houston Chronicle fan responses….

This is a fan base that been through a couple CHAMPIONSHIP seasons, NBA & college, witnessed NBA HOF players on their teams…. They are not overly captivated by Mr. Harden….

My favorite was the one who wrote K-Mart looked pretty good & wondered if they could trade Harden & a couple draft picks to get the pure shooter to go with their PG of the future Jeremy Lin….

Brooks should have the second unit more exposure with teams with more losses than wins, in order to make the unit fit for the games to come. If he doesn’t then he will have a team with only 5 players carrying them the whole season.

The Celtic’s and Net’s game ended with some scuffle among three players, with Doc Rivers saying; ”All that stuff, that’s not toughness,” Rivers told reporters, calling his team soft. ” Now that’s another top coach telling the way he sees his team play. It has been told by two other championship coaches, Popovich and Phil Jackson. Now why do these coaches know about their team, that others don’t?

Hated seeing Cole leave….

Seeing a lot of ex-Thunder players in different uni’s so far this season, we’ll see more & more in season’s to come….

Now that that’s over, the season can begin….
