Another big, big game by Perk who is worth every cent of his bloated contract. What a mistake in not amnestying him, but he did have 5 rebounds tonight. Not bad for a center.

There was a lot of reasons for optimism during the Thunder/Blazer game Friday night. What I was most excited about was the bigs holding LaMarcus Aldridge to 8 for 22 from the field. Plus, Perk got his is first T of the year and Nic did a 20 foot, head first, belly slide to keep a ball from going of bounds.Few players would have tried to make that play and I'm not sure any of them could have made that play.Thats where effort meets determination.

Ya, Perk isn't the fastest runner or the highest jumper. His job is to take up real estate and set the tone for coming into the paint. I don't think people give him enough credit for his ability to move side to side. When Ibaka pulls off his man to try and shot block that throws all the inside coverage onto Perkins. His screens for Durant are some of the best in the business, he's a big body to try and fight your way around. We only average 10 minutes a game anyway running a true center. We play fast small ball. Put a big clunky opposing center out there and Russel will eat his lunch going around him, under him and even over him. Perk brought real toughness to the Thunder when we were like a bunch of wet dish rags out there.

The Harden deal is over and done with. I'm sure Scott would love to be able to go out and hand pick each player for his team but he has to work with what he is given. Buying a bunch of stars is no assurance of success, L.A. comes to mind!

I really like what Kevin Martin is going to be able to bring to the team. Give him a few more games and this guy is going to be a serious threat coming off the bench and in the 4th.

What's not to love about Nick? He's going to be seeing a lot of play time this year.

I'm sure that Scott has plans to fast track all the new players, you never know who is going to have to step up. Look at the situation that Reggie was thrust into last year. I'm sure that things like that keep a coach up at night.

I'm not worried about Ibaka, all players have off times, how many shots did Russel miss before he got that free throw?.

How can you tell when Perkins is hurt? He can't move in either condition. The Thunder will sit him on the bench down the stretch against every team but the Lakers and maybe the Spurs. I din't know why Brooks never played Aldrich.

Lori, yeah, agreed about Lamb. I'm wondering if they check his ID before letting him into the arena. ;)

J-Rod, I think you're right about Ibaka. Could be he's been pressing a little since the Harden trade, trying to do more on offense. Even if not and if it's something else, I think he'll be fine. I expect we'll start to see the Ibaka from pre-season before long, and that will be a good thing.

Serge will come around. Last season, DM, you were quite alarmed and concerned at Ibaka's poor play early in the season. I never doubt Ibaka. He will always produce. Still hoping for some low post scoring from Ibaka. It still amazes me that a guy like Ibaka can't score more with his back to the basket. Get position, make a quick and decisive move. Ibaka seems to just freeze up and over think when he gets the ball down low.

Very interesting concerning Houston and Portland game! I was telling my husband earlier that OKC better shut Harden down when they play them on the 28th! lol! I do agree that the trade was just about guaranteed to happen. Honestly, since the finals last season, I really thought that was how it would all turn out Todd, I just "felt" it! I just didn't want it to happen, but, that is life and this is a business after all. The Thunder is coming together now, I just had to get over the initial shock of Harden not being there. I am so used to him and Nick making plays and coming in together! Thunder all the way!

The team looked much better against Portland. Martin I think will be fine. Lori, I feel your smarting, where the trade was concerned. It did smart, for sure, but all things considered it was just about guaranteed to happen. I've come around to believing that it was for the best going forward.

Speaking of Harden, he came back down to earth a little tonight against Portland. He did still end up with 24-6-5 though, which isn't a bad line. But a bad shooting night, only going 8 for 24, and the Rockets lost in overtime. His average dropped to 35 points per game. You know you've been pretty hot when you put up 24 points, and your average drops six points.

Glad Perk should be okay tomorrow. But if he has to sit, the Hawks aren't a bad team to have to sit him against.
