I thought we were commenting about the Thunder/Spurs game.I wasn’t expecting to read a cat fight between two english teachers and a guy with a beautiful loser philosophy about being a Thunder fan.Also, I’m going to give Coach Brooks more that one game before I start calling for his head.What frustrated me the most about the game was,of course,,turnovers and how often Timmy got the ball within five feet of the basket.

David – I’m just referring to the Associated Press Style Guide. I understand collective nouns, but sports teams are typically exceptions to this rule. While it’s normal to use the collective noun to say “Led Zeppelin is amazing” it isn’t normal to say “The Orlando Magic is terrible”. Not only does it sound wrong, but it also isn’t correct according to the common style guides for sports journalism…

I’ve been an NBA fan since the 1960′s, began watching the Celtics with my dad, Hondo was his man…. My 1st FAVORITE NBA team was Kareem, Oscar & the Bucks…. I moved to Denver in 1981 & became a Nugget fan & remained one until the THUNDER arrived in OKC….

I’m used to my favorite team not winning a CHAMPIONSHIP, being the 8th seed & losing in the 1st round…. Losing players, players not living up to expectations, losing seasons, but I always remained a fan, not only of the Nuggets, but also the NBA & BASKETBALL….

What OKC has now is truly a dream come true for me, I LOVE IT !!!! I wrote during the playoffs last year for the THUNDER fans to enjoy the moment & what they had because it may not always be there…. I’ll repeat that now, this is FUN, ENTERTAINMENT, a joy to watch & experience…. The THUNDER will not ALWAYS be this good, so embrace them now because one day one year we’ll all be saying “remember when….”

Actually Chad, collective nouns are treated as singular nouns and thus take a singular verb. It happens in English and several other languages as well. I’m saving you the trouble of writing a rebuttal Darnell since you’ve done so several times.

Am I the only one that is annoyed by treatment of “Thunder” as a singular rather than plural noun? It shouldn’t be “the Thunder is not going back down that road” or “how the Thunder was struggling to get back”… it should be “the Thunder are not going back down that road” and “how the Thunder were struggling…”.

“Thunder” represents a team, a group of people. It’s not a singular noun like a dog or a cat. And the Associated Press Style Guide is with me on this one… I’m quite surprised to see a large newspaper constantly miss the mark here.

1. thunder will look like they did 2 years ago.
2. late game lineup will require someone who can set a screen for KD (collison?) without being called for a foul (perkins).
3. late game lineup will require someone to take ball out of westbrook’s hands (maynard?).
4. limits brooks flexibiity to 1 position for matchups.
5. no real offensive sets, no harden, maybe a 7 or 8 seed.
6. it is early in season–why no PJIII? why no other PG at end after RW shows he can take thunder out of game (2 chances to go up 2 possessions and 1 chance to have game winning opportunity = 3 bad RW decisions).
7. remember, this was san antonio team without best off ball scorer playing.

Amazing, doesn’t anyone REALIZE who the THUNDER was playing last night ???? In their HOME OPENER nonetheless….

With the HDTV’s everywhere these days, could someone PLEASE help Hasheem Thabeet with his hair, especially that discolored area…. Now if it’s natural & it can’t helped, please excuse me, I’m sorry….

I thought Hasheem played well & he’ll only get better…. K-Mart will be awesome before too long….

Game #1, THUNDER didn’t win in San Antonio, where have I heard that before ???? Wasn’t a season killer then, won’t be a season killer now….
