1. Booth, I'd rather you list the the 36 or 48 shooting guards that are interchangeable with James Harden, and so supplied, I'll save that for
when I need a deep hearty enduring chuckle.

2. I don't know if they're aren't 4 or 5 better current power forwards that
can do what Serge does; and I don't care. Iblocka is a unique component
of a beautiful team that is a joy to watch, and it should stay that way.

2a. Certainly there aren't 4 or 5 better power forward names that "Serge Ibaka" and that is important.

3. I will pledge my allegiance to any scribe who will swear off writing about money in any context ever about the NBA. Articles about million dollar contracts and how the billion dollar owner could possibly afford them are by definition, awful. Don't say this is how it is, this is journalism. One could ignore it all. If transition occurs, it occurs. I know this is a fantasy, its only going to get worse. But a principled line in the sand where these issues unrelated to actions on the 94'x50' hunk of hardwood are concerned would be appreciated.

4. Probably I have zero objectivity about the Thunder. I'd been a Laker and Warriors fan since 1970. That changed in the last few years watching this team. I'm so glad I don't have to watch less root for the likes of Andrew Bynum, Ron Artest and co. I don't see what the big deal is for a zillionaire to pay a few hundred million a year in taxes to keep a work of art for the ages basketball team together, is there a better toy in the world than that? End of story.

The Thunder will have to let Harden go, and OKC fans need to start getting ready for that departure now. I think you would be hard pressed to find 5 current power forwards in the league that can do what Ibaka does defensively, let alone hit that midrange jumper he's developed. Meanwhile, you could probably list 3-4 dozen shooting guards capable of filling Harden's shoes. Harden's value to the Thunder is as the 6th man - a talented, inexpensive, scorer off the bench. When his contract is up he's going to get big money as a starter somewhere else, that's just something OKC can't match with Westbrook and Durant on the payroll.

I really don't see why the Thunder won't just pay the tax to keep Harden and Ibaka or at least one of them & go after someone else decent.

If Clay is going to go and raid cities of their teams, it's now time for him to stand up and pay for the right to put a GREAT team on the floor every night.

Either way, we have the best GM in the league, so I have total faith in Presti.

I'll say it again... At the end of the day I'm getting rid of Harden before Serge. 14 point a night SG's are easier to find.
