he’s a 2 time all-star. he’s the fastest point in the game. he consistently scores 20 or more points a game. about those 2 turnovers in game 5: it looked a little like homecooking fouls to me, if you know what I mean. i do think the refs did a pretty good job, but at the end they weren’t controlling the game, they were almost dictating the outcome, and it wasn’t in our favor. so harp all you want about westbrook, but he’s doing his job, and it will take him and everyone else rising to levels they haven’t played yet to win this series tonight. you gonna watch or sit in the corner complaining?

why constantly bring up westbrooks maturity? I mean, we’re in the middle of the WCC and about to wind it up. Why create these distractions? He’s got a job to do, as do all the Thunder. He has come a long ways from last year, and he’s doing a really good job this year. He’s not perfect, but he’s a heck of a ball player and we’re lucky to have him.

Game 5= Westbrook regressed. 25 shots attempted all of game’s 3 & 4. 24 shots last night. The blueprint is there (’11 Memphis series) when he played calm and composed and made sure he got the whole team involved. He was a pass first point guard while still managing to get a triple double, beautiful. Not sure we will ever see Russ be that guy consistently (a Rich Man’s Rondo) but he has to be closer to that than what he was last night CONSISTENTLY before he really takes the next step.

Couple that with a passion to win & freaky athleticism = potential for not the smartest plays down the stretch.
4th quarter of Game 5 yesterday for example, anxious stretch for a thunder fan when the ball was in his hands and not Durants.

Westbrook is like that temperamental friend that you’re afraid to check because you know they’ll go off on you. Sometimes they can be really sweet and helpful, other times they can be wrong and strong.

It’s like everyone is scared of him: Brooks, Cheeks, and the media included… Well, everyone except Harden. The Beard fears no man.

I don’t think he’ll ever have the level of self-awareness that KD and James have. Most physically gifted PG in the league right now, but the least reliable decision maker.

Any one of these Thunder players knows more about basketball in his little finger than all the bloggers and commentators on this page combined. Believe it. We can talk about it or analyze it, but they live it and make the whole exciting NBA thing go. Thunder have been counted out so many times this season that I’ve lost count, but they continue to rise to the occasion. Go ahead and nitpick, but soon all might witness sports history, right here in Oklahoma City!

westbrook makes mistakes, but he gives his all when he plays and that’s all we can ask of him. some of tony parker’s plays you might consider dumb, but he was doing everything for his team to have a chance to win, like westbrook does. I’ll take the westbrooks who leave it all on the floor, or the collison’s or any number of other thunder players to anyone in the league you just thinks they deserve this or that call or this or that win because of who they are. westbrook proves himself every time out. he makes mistakes, but it isn’t for lack of trying.
