I respect the point of view of those that think some of the posters should not be offended. It has been discussed that OKC should not wear its heart on its sleeve; however, this is part of the personality of OKC. It is part of what makes OKC different than most other cities with professional teams. OKC has genuine emotions and passions that most bigger markets cannot match. We have a stronger sense of community than most larger markets. It is these values that DM chose to take a cheap shot at. With all due respect, I feel that it is fair for members of the community to take offense at a comment that had little redeeming value or purpose. The fact is that as a city, we should not need to sacrifice our class and sense of community to be accepted by larger markets. People from other places can think what they want about OKC, the facts of the matter are clear: we have more passionate fans; a better sense of community and a stronger economy than most of these other markets, and we should embrace that.

Oh silly Oklhomans, must we wear our hearts on our sleeves about EVERYTHING! My goodness! It's getting a little embarrassing honestly, anytime anyone says anything that could be misconstrued (exhibit a: KD being crucified for his comments to TMZ and Jimmy Kimmel when he has always been so great to our city and the best ambassador we have ever known and he isn't even from here!) as critical of Oklahoma or its residents everyone gets up in arms. Chill out, really. Act like you've been here before otherwise we will always be looked upon as second class.

It truly is about our community. The Thunder have tried to become a part of our community and one of the ways to show that they appreciate our undying, never ending support is to support us, the smaller groups and to make us feel as important to them as they feel to us. It might not have been some BMX stars doing massive stunts but it represents the true, hardworking people of Oklahoma City. The average joes who work hard and then come and stand united to support something that is important to us.

So by your people reckoning Darnell hates people with mental illness?? OKC sounds a lot like the city I live in in Australia.

Come on DM, how dare you have an opinion about something other than the Thunder!
