I like the dynamic duo comparisons for Westbrook and Durant. They complement each other. One of my favorite comments from Brooks was when he addressed yet another complaint that Westbrook did not pass enough to Durant--his comment--Durant already leads the league in scoring--how much more do you want him to score? (My other fave: he may not be your pg but he is my pg.)
Each is capable of taking over a game and pushing. Each has improved every year in the league. Each seems to push the other--in other words, they have a positive competitive need to continue to improve and strive to be better.
And, they are surrounded by talent-- How many teams have MVP candidates (two legitimately discussed); the potential 6th man of the year; the leading shot blocker; the player described by Kobe as the best post defender in the league; a shut-down defender. . . .

Jim,

Westbrook has been great, but let's hold off before we take the emperors robe..

Fact is, KD played an unbelievably complete game and is making a big time push for MVP.

I agree that KD's demeanor is different that Russell's but I've seen him dominate plenty of games. They've been bored. They woke up for this stretch of games.

I thought Deng would be an issue for KD. OKC made the Chi Town defense look pretty amateur. Brooks was Thibs' assistant. It was personal.

Darnell, a certain local NBA blogger writes that you and Carlson filled in for Brian Davis and Grant Long by giving KD his pregame ritual high fives at the scorer's table. Good on ya both. Thanks for taking one for the team!

I'm just going to say it...

I think KD is too cool for school in some games and I prefer Russell dictating the tempo of the game. That's the kind of dominant,take-over force he is.

KD just wants to play and play and play. He'd go to 5OT if he could lol You could see it in some of those games we were supposed to win against Cleveland & other lame teams. It's like he shoots, scores and waits to see what the other team's answer will be.

Russ said it tonight while he was wired: Dont let up, put your foot on their throats. That is not KD, in my opinion. I prefer Russ' intensity. His clutch percentage vs. KD's this season is telling. And Perk aka Mr. Real Talk, said it. Russ is the reason theyre winning THE WAY they are.

I'm not saying Russ is better than KD YET. I'm just saying I see a diffrence in the way they approach the game.

I wish we could've seen Rose. Otherwise we don't really know how we match up defensively. No way if Derrick Rose plays Chicago tries to run their offense for Korver for an extended stretch. They just had nothing going. Then again I don't think Rose would have slowed down Durant and Westbrook so Chicago probably still loses by a smaller albeit still comfortable margin.
