Good stuff Darnell.

Count me among those who would prefer seperate histories, records, you name it. No disrespect to Seattle fans intended. Just that for me, it's two different organizations. I hope Seattle does get another team at some point, although it doesn't look too promising at the moment. To any crossover fans though, all I have to say is this - welcome aboard. Glad to have you.

On the game...can we start officially calling him Serge The Freaking Beast Ibaka now? Or should we wait to see if the consistency spell is cast a little more first?

Either way, last night...wow.

I'm on board about Jackson. He did well last night in a tough environment. Can't hurt his already notable confidence any.

Stay dry tomorrow if you can.

[...] Darnell Mayberry: “Watching how Perk chills out is a joy in itself within a game. He thought he got fouled on his first made field goal and instead of griping just looked at one official and smiled all the way down on defense. Early in the third quarter, after getting called for a foul against Dirk, Perk didn’t shout at the ref or stare him down. He strutted over to his bench, bent over and barked to assistant Mark Bryant, who was sitting on the second row.
Didn't Calvin Booth play at Maryland? I'm getting old!
Nice nuggets, DM. Am I mistaken, or doesn't the contract specify that if another team would come to Seattle the records and history would be shared? That would be even more awkward.

As far as Mr. October, does everyone forget that Maynor was a rookie when he came to OKC? Maybe it's because Maynor's a pass-first point guard and is one of those guys who just doesn't commit many turnovers ala Kevin Ollie. Reggie will be fine, but his style will never be as steady. I hope Maynor makes a full recovery, and I'd love for him to stay with the Thunder beyond his rookie deal. But the fact of the matter is that you can't afford to overpay for a backup point guard. That's why you grab a kid like Reggie every could years. He'll be fine.

Gaeleck, first of all, thanks for responding respectfully. Secondly, my intent was not to poke fun at the situation or take it lightly. I was simply pointing out an extremely silly contractual obligation that very few fans, in Oklahoma City or Seattle, actually care for to begin with. But in making that point, I knew that there would be a great chance that some Seattle fans would chime in with a chorus of complaints. The last bit was an attempt to stop them before they started. I already know Sonics fans want their history up there. Most Thunder followers want it up there as well. I don't have a dog in the fight either way, really. But as the paper's Thunder beat writer, I'd rather not have to write something that makes absolutely no sense. Frankly, I'd be impressed if 5 percent of Thunder fans even know who Calvin Booth is. Again, nothing in that bit was intended to be insolent or insensitive. -DM-

Sonics fan since I was a seven year old boy in 1978. I transitioned to being a Thunder fan with little difficulty because of Kevin Durant's greatness. I took my then eight year old daughter to her first NBA game on April 14, 2008 at Key Arena, which happened to be the Sonics last home game ever. I love the Thunder with all of my being. Please never take lightly the fact that there is no longer a franchise in Seattle and suggest your annoyance with having to share a history with the Sonics. I find it classless and unnecessary to offer your pity so that you don't have to be reminded of the past.
