I think the offensive was better in the half court than you give them credit, in the firs half. Second half, same old gonna get you beat in the WCF offense we’ve seen from the Thunder. Too much one on one. And when are we going to implement the KD/RW pick and roll, pick and pop on a more consistent basis (Durant as the screener). Every time we do it either Durant is wide open for a shot as the lane closes to stop RW or KD springs RW for an easy drive to the hoop.

David, you’re absolutely right. The offense was pretty good in the first half. In fact, I was all set to write about that exact thing in this space…and then the second half started. Still, I should have mentioned it and given them credit. Although there were some questionable shots and sequences in the first half as well, it really was more of a second half issue. -DM-

Reading your thoughts are always the perfect way to end a night after a Thunder game. Thanks for consistently doing great work, Darnell.

what’s the time limit on free throws?

[...] Darnell Mayberry: “Nights like tonight are when you wish Westbrook had a filter. It just wasn’t his night. He was off and he had no clue how to turn it on. But he kept forcing the issue and, in the process, shutting out his teammates with one ill-advised attack after another. Russ has been great lately, and it wouldn’t be fair to make a big deal out of this one performance. But this game is a prime example of the instincts that he lacks and is still looking to learn. The better option for him clearly would have been to defer and instead of continuing to try to be deadly with his own offense.” [...]

Brandon, I agree. I cannot go to bed after a Thunder win until I read Darnell

Brandon and David, thanks a lot for the kind words. I truly appreciate it. I have a question for you both (and anyone else who is a loyal reader). Since I don’t get my nuggets out until midnight or later after most games because of my other duties, would it be more convenient if I posted a more condensed version after the game and came back with more thoughts the next morning? Just asking for feedback, not really at the point of considering changing anything up. Thanks again. -DM-

Leah, the time limit for free throws is 10 seconds. -DM-

Darnell, you’re very welcome. I mean it, I love your work. As far as doing a more condensed version, personally, I’m a night owl, so I look forward to reading them late at night before I go to bed. And I’d rather read them all at once than read a shorter version and waking up the next day to read the rest of them.

I usually read them before I go to sleep too.

A condensed version would be awesome, because then I get another article the next day!

Darnell, on the idea of a condensed version of your post-game write-up, that would be great, although I’m guessing you’re pretty much chasing your tail by then as it is. We could probably just spend a sleepless night waiting for you to post a full write-up. ;)

If you did decide to do a quick-take post though, maybe you could call it something like “Mini Nuggets” or some such. (“McNuggets”?) Or maybe just “Quick Takes.” Or my personal favorite, “Darnell Dishes the Dirt.”

Just trying to help, you understand. I do enjoy your columns.

Great to see Cook finding the stroke (6 for 9 last three games), only one question. We know he is a streak shooter, so why not keep going to him when he hits. he hit 2 back to back, then was subbed out.

Also with shooters like Ray Allen, Cook, ect. how they get the ball plays a big part to their rhythm. Maybe Jackson should look at some tape of how Maynor finds Cook and the floor, and it could help keep the rhythm going
