Don’t you think we are all getting a little excited about Harden and Ibaka. Fantastic players? Most definatley! But bank breaking, salary cap busting players? Not quite. I don’t see the Thunder having to much trouble trying to hang on to them and we all know how good Presti is.

Brandon, Thunder will still have bird rights to all these players, which means Thunder can pay them more without it counting against the salary cap.

Here’s what bothers me: we drafted all our guys. We are building our tea, the right way. These rule changes are to prevent superstars from deciding to join forces and build super teams. And I’m all for that. But when a team drafts its own guys and commits to making the most and best out of their players, it’s ridiculous that you can’t keep them. There should have been something in the new CBA about not having to pay as steep a luxury tax based on whether your stars were drafted or signed in free agency. Something, anything, to protect the smart teams that aren’t taking shortcuts and building their teams the right way.

That’s not a secret but great work, Darnell. One thing I’m missing is the new revenue sharing plan which should allow OKC to spend a bit more than they normally could under the old CBA.

For every action, there will be a reaction.

Whether the Thunder will have the ability to keep Harden and Ibaka, will depend a lot on other teams ability to pay for Harden / Ibaka.

This will set off a chain reaction, maybe a team that wants a Harden will have to make decisions on other players on their roster to make room for Harden.

Which can open up other opportunities. This will just have to play out, its hard to predict what will happen now. It could lower salaries and lower what other teams are willing to pay for Harden/Ibaka.
