Sadly, stories like this are why a lot of pros are essentially broke a few years removed from their professional career or why stories also abound about many lottery winners being broke only a few years after winning. When you’ve got the money, moochers are going to come out of the woodwork. In the end, we are talking about young guys, many of whom come from modest means to begin with. Those two traits are oftentimes not indicative of someone who understands how to manage and preserve wealth.

Most of those ‘friends’ at his party will be long gone around the same time his ‘millions’ are gone. Perhaps Durant needs to give his buddy James some advice on being humble.

Harden dropping $590 a bottle on his birthday is the equivalent of me dropping some extra cash on Crown Royal Cask 16 on my birthday.

His closest 40 friends is like my closest 4 or 6.

So I don’t see this as a big deal. Live the lifestyle, like you say.

Plus, and this is just me, but I have to imagine there is some peer pressure to act your wage if you’re rich. Lots of people in my tax bracket are stacked with debt up to their ears for similar peer pressure. Just because the numbers on the bills change, doesn’t mean the circumstances aren’t comparable.
