How do you defend Dirk when he is allowed to bump and push all he wants to and then the defender gets called for a foul? Look at the picture above at how Dirk is throwing a shoulder into Ibaka, who was probably called for a foul for trying to maintain his position. Do not ever touch Dirk and don’t let him touch you!

I read and listen to both sides when the Mavs play. I can say, that OKC has played my team better than both series before. This was not an easy win for Dallas but at the same time do not expect the rest of the team to sleep like this first game. This was our rust, too much time off come back game. It will not be too much longer before the little brother team to take control of the west. I do give credit to the OKC team and I am sure they will not quit til the end. Dude, get real. I know as well as anyone how they’re guaranteed to rip your heart out at least once every postseason. I remember the 2006 Finals beginning just like last night, and I remember how they ended. I remember Cuban breaking up the “Big Three” by letting Finley go, and then Nash. Dallas hasn’t signed a single All-Star in his prime since, well, ever, though Mark’s made several big stiffs – Bradley, LaFrentz, Damp – undeservedly rich.

So talk crap all you want if you have to, ’cause I know deep down inside, every Mavs fan lives with that feeling of doubt that comes from the wheels falling off year after year after year.

Never mind that this sentence makes no sense and has almost no punctuation…the group that owns the Thunder includes at least one billionaire (Aubrey Mclendon, net worth around 3 billion last I checked) and several other very wealthy people. So long as the price of natural gas keeps going up, I think they’ll be ok.

I think the whole “small markets can’t compete” narrative is way overblown. If Lebron hadn’t pulled his Darth Vader move last summer, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. Players go where they think they can win and play great basketball. San Antonio is the obvious example. ATL is huge market, why are they struggling? What about Pheonix and Golden State? New Orleans is more of an entertainment capital than any other small market destination, so why does Chris Paul want out? These guys are millionaires, they can live anywhere they want in the off season and get on a plane to Paris for the weekend if they’re bored. If the Thunder are running a good program and winning, players will want to play here.

OK, so Dallas is gonna dump Nowitzki in a couple of years? The same guy who had one of the most amazing playoff performances of all time tonight? That just doesn’t make sense. I know he’s getting older, but I don’t see it happening. As for the bench, we’re only 3 years in the NBA and already at the conference championships. Give us a few more years of trades and drafts and then tell me we can’t build a championship team.

Speaking of over-hyped narratives…anyone who has worked any intense and demanding job, especially with their friends, will be able to tell you that things can get tense from time to time. That doesn’t mean you can’t work together and maintain a good relationship.
