I have had a healthy distaste for Mr. Kiszla previous articles, finding them to be egocentric to the Rockies and more of a voice of upset children- mad at the way a little brother can be bigger, stronger , and faster. However, this article speaks to me of a humble observation that we here in Oklahoma find inspiration in sports far more than do other places nationally. From our Dust Bowl conquering Sooners of the Wilkinson and preceding eras to the current Thunder mania ( of which I am a partner in crime)- We love those who inspire us, especially in the abstract realm of modern sports. A great article about an even better place.

Not sure how I felt after reading this stand-alone quote. After reading the entire article, though, I think Mr. Kiszla hit pretty close to the mark. The Thunder is more than just a sports team, they are a validation of sorts for the entire OKC community.
