You guys are just reading far to into a simple interview and thats exactly what he wants you and players to do. I hope the Thunder players didnt see it like ya’ll did or they just got “mind f%^&ed”. Plus Phil has 11 rings,,,let me repeat that ELEVEN rings. He can say what ever he wants.

Gil, he’s also not wanting to give credit to the Thunder fans or crowd, and he’s kind of implying that we’re a flash in the pan. Yeah, they’re young, they’re excited, I’ve seen it all before, yada yada. Saying we’re nothing special. Which is funny, cause every other single coach, sportswriter and player we’ve heard from has said they’ve never seen anything like it. So I guess Phil just has a better memory than any other person involved in the NBA over the past few decades?

Aside from the Perkins comments, I don’t see what’s so controversial about what he said. How did he “refuse to give credit”? He was asked if he’d seen a crowd give losing team a standing ovation, and he answered yes. He also said that they’re a team that’s on the rise.
