[...] Darnell Mayberry on misses opportunities: “The final minute was discouraging. Kevin Durant had a Ron Artest strip the ball from him with 49.9 seconds left and the Thunder down three. Westbrook then dribbled around like a chicken with his head cut off before barrelling down the lane for a charge.
@MartzMimic Artest is a very good defender, don't get me wrong, but everywhere you read, verdict is that he locked down durant. At one point KD was 7 of 15 attempts which is his season average. If you are in the lineup for defense and opposing player scores at season average, you shouldn't be called the greatest defender that ever lived. Durant usually misses his threes in physical games and the percentage looks horrible. It wasn't that bad a performance from durant. One more thing he played 42 minutes, phil usually gives kobe more rest. Shouldn't KD get more rest.

All in all media either criticizes too much or applauds too much. Truth lies somewhere in between. ESPN i am looking at you.

Speaking of threes, KD is 2 of 12 in last posession threes. Now,
1) Either he should try some other options.
2) Coach should run some other plays.
3) Let somebody else take the three (all star three point shooting was a bad look on KD).

Coach brooks was coach karl's assistant so he is fond of small ball. You can win with any style but coach and personnel are more important than style.
Next year is scott's last year I think, let us see if he can take us far.

@Gamma
I'm not sure what you were seeing. Artest - just like in last year's playoff series - was grabbing, holding and pushing on KD all afternoon. The last shot was a rare exception.

--------

I think coaching cost us the game. I had hoped that the trade would idiot-proof the lineups for Brooks, but it seems that if there's the opportunity to play a small forward at power forward, that's what Brooks is going to do.

I actually don't think ron artest defense was that good on durant. If you look at the 3 point shot kd took, gasol was in his vision more than artest, he had already blew by him. Gasol being feet long is hard to score over even for durant.
It takes a village to defend, no one man can do it.

Ron is best at pushing you around and stealing the ball, which is kd's achiles heal, has been losing the ball for past 3 years. Russ also needs to run some sets.
But it was good game none the less.
