[...] Mayberry’s postgame observations: “My only problem with Westbrook’s emergence has been the backseat Durant has had to take. It’s becoming more and more evident that as Westbrook dominates the ball, Durant is reduced to second fiddle. Something has to change there. On several occasions tonight, Durant was the third, and sometimes fourth, option. When Westbrook is probing, Durant is standing around. It takes Durant completely out of the game. And by the time Durant finally gets a touch, he’s so eager to do something that he rushes up an ill-advised attempt. It’s killing his percentages and destroying his rhythm.” [...]

Re Durant playing 2nd fiddle: is his confidence down from last year? We heard all summer how hard he worked on his ball handling and strength, looking to overcome his weakness of getting stripped on drives to the hoop. Obviously, he hasn't improved in this area, and on top of that, it seems like he's getting called for more carries. He just seems more rattled/tentative with the ball in his hands (not nearly as rattled as Harden, tho...). Could this lack of confidence in his ability to drive to the hoop be the reason the balls out of his hands, and consequently, in Westbrooks more? Is this also why he seems to be settling for more long 2-pt jumpers?? Whatever the reason - Durants struggles or Westbrooks improvements- I'm not so sure this trend isn't by design... Hopefully this gets worked out, and soon... Oh, and one more thing: any Rockets SG > James Harden.

@DM
You're right that KD isn't squaring up when he takes those last-second shots. So stop calling isolation plays over and over in those situations. KD is much better coming off a curl or a good screen. If I'm not mistaken, they did set a screen to inbound the ball to him, but not one to get him room to shoot. Battier was right on top of him.
