The problem with Green is that he is strictly a standing jump shooter and once in a while can drive. He does not have the body control to move, stop and shoot well. He is not a good passer, also.

And his defense against the quality big men has been terrible. He is just too small to guard a four. Almost every single game last year he was outplayed by the other team’s big man. He is a tweener without the skills to play the small forward. I realize that he is close friends with the other players, but he can be close friends coming off the bench, plus they are going to have to pay him or overpay him.

As time goes on, and if they play more, Durant will get better on LeBron. I’m sure, given these are two of the best young players, we’d want to see this in a Finals matchup. Though let’s just get Durant deeper into the playoffs first.

About trading Jeff Green, you would more worry about Kevin Durant. Durant and Green are the closest of friends; they both grew up in the same city. Let Green stay and be the Thunder’s backup SF and be the 6th man (or Green be the starting 3 and Durant be the starting 2). Durant would damper his motivation to be with the Thunder if Green would have to go and play with some other team.

Darnell did not say Jeff Green could play four positions. He said he has the ability to defend four positions in spurts. He was mismatched against Bosh, but as Darnell pointed out in the article, he did not have much help, and he won’t be the last person who has trouble guarding Bosh.

The argument about whether Green should be a starting 4 will never end. Personally I don’t want to see him get traded, although in the long run he might be better coming off the bench. The problem with that is that you have to have someone who can consistently play better as the starting 4. No one on the team meets that definition yet. Maybe as the year goes on Ibaka will do so, but as much as I like him, I don’t think he’ll be a starter by year’s end.

Brooks does not seem to view players strictly by position, so the way he mixes and matches line-ups will be interesting to see. Whatever happens though, I think Green is going to be an integral part of the team’s future. He’s too versatile not to be.

Jeff Green. I think your view that he can play 4 positions is totally misleading. As he showed against a quality team again last night is that he can’t really put the ball on the floor well enough to be a 3 or a 2. He was like a run away freight train and the primary reason why the Thunder were quickly out of it. As he showed in the Lakers series where he shot 33 percent with less than 5 rebounds while his taller opponent torched him repeatedly, Green was totally mismatched against Bosh who looked as though the Heat was playing 5 on 4. Jeff may be a good man, a fine teammate and close to the corp players, but he is not a quality forward and due to his size and lack of skills will never be a long-term solution. I am certain that Presti knows this better than I do and is trying to figure out how to slot a big forward into the Thunder future.

Not sure. Brooks said he wanted to spread around the playing time to let everyone get a good opportunity in the preseason. Mullens got the short end Wednesday with only 13 minutes and it was even worse Friday with the DNP. I’d expect Mullens to get some good minutes Tuesday against Memphis. If not, then I’d start questioning what’s going on. Until then, I wouldn’t make much of it. Besides, Ibaka is going to be in the rotation. And Aldrich might already be ahead of Mullens on the depth chart. That leaves Brooks with no choice but to have to play Ibaka, and Aldrich to a lesser degree. -DM-

What’s up with Byron Mullens getting no run? I’ve been looking around and can’t find any mention anywhere. We needed Serge at the 4 last night, but he was stuck at the backup 5 until the last 5 minutes with Cole at 5.
