Last night's game was the worst game of the season (...that I can think of). Darnell is right: the Thunder indeed had a meltdown from the 2nd quarter through the end, and there is no excuse for that play. Our team is pitiful; as least the Nuggets are a great team. The Bobcats lost to the Pacers the night before (pitiful). However, if the Thunder plays like they played after the Denver debacle, I could live with that.

[...] Darnell Mayberry coming strong: “And don’t give me the excuse that the Bobcats are 25-8 at home. The Thunder has won at San Antonio (24-10), at Utah (26-8), at Phoenix (26-9), at Atlanta (26-7), at New Orleans (21-12), at Portland (22-13) and at Miami (20-15). This was just a bad loss. Plain and simple. It would have been different had the game been nip and tuck throughout. But it’s inexcusable when you lead by as many as 19 points, against a team on the second night of a back-to-back, playing without its leading rebounder and second leading scorer.” [...]

Krstic actually played well on defense last night, which was one reason Ratliff was having a tough time. He had two or three blocks (including a stop against Jackson inside during the last few minutes of the fourth), grabbed loose balls (pause) and did a good job contesting shots. A lot of times our bigs get blamed when a player in front of them makes a mistake defensively. Last night wasn't one of Thabo's better outings, so maybe that's why Weaver was in so early.

As far as the coaching, I don't disagree about last night and it may affect the Thunder in the playoffs, but there really haven't been many games you could point to and say, "Wow, that was a really strange substitution." Even experienced coaches are going to sometimes do things that make you think, "What the h--- is he doing?"

I enjoyed the article, darnell. Seems like a fair assessment. I would also add that I didn't understand coach's substitution today. Serge was the best player defensively for thunder today but he was subbed out for nenad. Nenad might be a veteran but his reflexes are like an anaconda on a hot day, especially on defensive end( I am just angry). I can recall in some of the other games serge played throughout the 4rth quarter. So why change in strategy.

I have been reading articles that suggest thunder's inexperience can be a disadvantage in playoffs. Nobody mentions inexperience of our coach. I think it can be as big a disadvantage. We talk about player's development between first year to second to the third. Does the coach's development pan out in similar time range or does it take longer?
