Chris Paul coming to OKC
The bad news is the Hornets fell short against the Spurs last night in the Western Conference Semifinals. The good news is Chris Paul will now be coming to Oklahoma City to host his youth basketball camp for the third straight year after the Hornets came up short in their quest for an NBA title.
Had the Hornets made the NBA Finals, the dates would have conflicted with the camps in OKC. The camp is June 16-18. The NBA Finals start on June 5 and could last until June 19.
While it’s disappointing for a lot of people that the Hornets are out, a lot of kids will now have a summer to remember when they attend Chris Paul’s camp. Here are some of the details.
The camp is in its third year. The cost of the camp is $199, the same it’s been since it began in 2006. The camp will be held at Heritage Hall High School and Oklahoma City University. There will be four sessions, two morning and two afternoon sessions at each site all three days.
And Chris Paul will be there. His name is not just on the event. The past two years kids received T-shirts, autographed basketballs from Chris Paul and a photo. For more information about the camp visit www.chrispaul3.com or www.procamps.com.
In other news, the NBA Draft Lottery gets underway in a few hours. The Seattle Sonics have the second best chance to land the No. 2 pick. Here’s my story from today about how the Sonics can get out of the dreaded lottery and turn into a perennial playoff team and eventual championship contender.
Sonics GM Sam Presti is scheduled to be available to the media following the lottery’s announcement. Kevin Durant, who will represent the Sonics on stage tonight, might be available as well. Check back for their thoughts and more tonight.

you know, it says a lot about the so-called “armpit of america” if chris paul continues to return when he’s no longer obligated. if oklahoma was as horrible as i’ve heard on this blog, he wouldn’t bother. i guess it goes to show that people in seattle talk out of their ass in reference to OKC.
i hope you keep the sonics, and i’ll keep my city the way it is. i hope you’re stuck with clay bennett forever. i hope he keeps the team, but can’t move it to OKC, and runs it into the ground (even more than it already is). based on everything i’ve heard and read (not just here), most of the more vocal fans come across like angry teenagers who aren’t getting what they want for christmas. sports is a business, and business come and go. oklahoma lost it’s general motors plant, and you may lose your NBA team.
stop crying, trying to be clever and insulting, and man up. that’s how we roll in oklahoma, beeyotch!
we’re just people who want a better city. you’re just people who want to bash another city’s citizens over a basketball team (that you’re probably going to keep). remember, in all of this, you could have been classy, but you opted to blame everyone in oklahoma, and in turn look like a city full of cry-babies. i’m sorry the team is leaving, but i don’t feel sorry for any city that thinks they are better than anyone else.
keep hating on oklahoma city. it says a lot about where you’re from, which i hear is nice, but you’re not convincing me.
SEE Y’ALL IN…. just kidding…
Nice donuteyes – I love stream of consciousness stuff.
Unfortunately, for the most part pro clubs are just big boy toys and really have nothing to do for the city or about the fans.
What Seattle sports fans are doing with the Sonics and to the NBA (just as we’ve done with the Pilots/Mariners and to the MLB and also with the Seahawks and to the NFL) is saying, “no, actually the team belongs to the city and the fans.
With the Sonics, its going to be especially easy, as the current owners’ silly-goose paper trail of disdian and disrespect for and to the city and the fans happens to also show fraud against both the previous owners and the league, and so you may say that the fans and city retaining “real” ownership of the team is a “slam dunk”.
That’s one NBA player down. Now if you could only get 4 more to come to OKC at the same time and somehow lure an opponent you’d be well on your way to watching live NBA basketball on the court. Here’s to hoping your fairy godmother grants your wish.
what’s wrong seattle? are you annoyed that kevin durant wants to spend his summers in texas going to school and chris paul wants to come to OKC to teach a camp? you’re really reaching for things to hate on.
try harder.
p.s. after some thinking, i’d rather watch girls play softball (to win because they love the sport) than spoiled pituitary cases play NBA ‘basketball’ (for money, because they love the money). i don’t want the sonics, but i really don’t want their players (or fans).
No hating doughboy – this blog is called “NBA in OKC” and so all of its threads are relevant to the Sonics until next month when it will be official that the team will be staying home.
Last I checked KD bought a home in Seattle as well as one for his mom. But why would he do that if the Sonics will inevitably be in OKC (according to Okies)?
“Last I checked KD bought a home in Seattle as well as one for his mom. But why would he do that if the Sonics will inevitably be in OKC (according to Okies)?”
Sorry Sam, I really don’t think that has any bearing on whether or not the Sonics are staying. He bought a home here Seattle because he has a rookie contract to play out. Despite what most Okies would say, Seattle has an amazing culture and feel to it. Very few places in the US have what we have…that comes with being a port city with so much to do. It’s something you cannot understand without actually experiencing it. Granted our city is NOT without flaw…*cough* city council *cough*…but it is a great place.
donuteyes, come off it bro. Honestly, if you can watch Kobe throughout this year and say that he doesn’t want to win, and it is all about the money then you need lasik.
When Bennett heard that Sonics players don’t want to play in OKC, he wrote in reponse “boo hoo”.
Sorry folks.
JUST OFF THE WIRE….KD AND A FEW VETERANS ARE PRETTY TICKED ABOUT CLAY-BOYS STATEMENTS/EMAILS. THESE DEPOSITIONS ARE BLOWING THE TOP OFF THIS CASE. DONUT-EYES, CHRIS PAUL WAS OBLIGATED FOR THIS YEAR, BUT, ITS THE LAST ON A CONTRACT, AND, HE HAS ALREADY STATED HE WILL NOT BE BACK. SHOOT, HE WANTED TO DINE-OUT LAST SUMMER AFTER THE DAYS EVENTS, AND, WAS PISSED THAT GOLDEN CORRAL WAS HIS TOP CHOICE FOR FINE-DINING.
