Stern made an emotional decision with regard to the Hornets when the BEST decision would have been to ‘at least’ have another split season or two which would have ‘calmed’ the Sonics issue here in Seattle a bit.

Doing this he would have killed two birds with one stone to speak, and would have ensured the success of the league. However, now Stern has at least two failing franchises so to say – and one is STILL New Orleans.

I guess that is what was meant by not ‘abandoning’ New Orleans. …

They only outdrew the NBA cities of Memphis and Charlotte by about 1,000 seats though. The truth is, the NBA is failing in all three markets. New Orleans is actually a contending team this year. Sports can bring a community together and no other community needs that than New Orleans. Perhaps this was what the NBA was expecting with the return of the Hornets to New Orleans. But it hasn’t happened and it is painfully obvious that the Hornets should not have returned. I bet Stern also failed to go into New Orleans without an exit strategy as well.
