Founded in 1862 and still family owned. It&#039;s Americas second oldest brewery. It has been and continues to be one of the best craft breweries for the last 150 plus years. Schells was making craft beers in the 70&#039;s and 80&#039;s. That&#039;s the 1870&#039;s and 1880&#039;s. 
I think its great that we have local breweries all over the country now. Just like we did before prohibition. You would drink the beer that was brewed in whatever city you were in.]]></description>
