BCS Finals: Vote for the champion

We started with 64 beers in the fourth annual TapWerks Beer Championship Series. Now, after more than two weeks and thousands of votes, we’re down to two. What’s at stake? The winner will be crowned Oklahoma’s favorite beer for 2011 and get its name engraved on the coveted Golden Taphandle Trophy. Who will win? COOP Native Amber and Redbud Pale Ale are squaring off, and your votes will decide the winner. Voting is now underway and will continue until 5 p.m. Wednesday. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, head on over to TapWerks in Bricktown for a special pint night to celebrate last year’s champion, Marshall McNellie’s Pub Ale, and to hear the announcement of the 2011 BCS champion. Remember, you can vote for your champion up to 10 times per day.

Marshall’s brews the best beer. You dumb Okies don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

Expand your beer selection you dumb red necks.

Hey…Comment remover guy…you have a moron posting things on here. You delete everything else and leave this comment calling people names. Awesome.

BTW…Marshalls in general is not good beer.

The IPA is the worst representation of that style I’ve ever had. They make it and slap a “Marzen Style” on it because no one will question them.

Pub ale has no flavor. Revival Red…well this literally tastes like Pub Ale with Hops added in.

Arrowhead…should be their IPA seeing how they completely blew through the IBUs for regular pale ale.

My wife likes Big Jamoke, and its okay for me. My Favorite of their offerings is the El Cucuy.

I guess my biggest complaint with Marshall beer is that everything tastes like they use the same yeast strain, and reuse batches of yeast way too many times.

That along with the fact that their hop bill in the recipes is constantly changing. You never know what you’re about to get.

This year the Oktoberfest was very much improved over last year. So maybe they are figuring some things out.

Anyway, two cents from this dumb redneck.

Go COOP!

Coop-Horny Toad is the only good coop beer. That is a fact, TulsaBeerGuy. I am surprised that you, ‘being from Tulsa’, does not like Marshall’s brew.

Keep your two cents dumb dumb

I personally think the Coop F-5 (flowery goodness mmmmm…) Is best…just sayin’!

I’m a big fan of all the COOP beers.
Not so much on the Marshall’s beers.
I prefer flavor.

Jason, liking Marshall Beer is not a prerequisite for being from Tulsa. I explained why I think it sucks. Don’t really care if you appreciate my comments. If Marshall had competition in Tulsa, maybe you wouldn’t be so in love with them. Fact.

All the COOP beers taste too hoppy to me.

I was a big fan of COOP beers, that is until they canned the person who crafted all of their beers… shortsighted and stupid. Three cheers for Redbud!

Michael, have you had Coop DNR? no noticeable hops at all. Horney Toad is not hoppy, neither is Zeppelin German Wheat Neither is Gran Sport Porter. If all you’ve had is F5 and Native Amber I can see where you might possibly think that… try a few more COOP beers before you make a blanket statement like they are ALL hoppy.

COOP and Redbud are both really good breweries and all great guys. So are the guys at Marshalls! They are all brewing good beer. I am sure the beer in Oklahoma will only get better as they all challenge each other to be better and more creative. I am pretty sure there will be a couple of more breweries start up this next year. The Oklahoma beer scene will just keep getting better and better.

Arby,
Are you speculating on the addition of breweries, or do you know something specific? :-)

We can always use more!

Go Redbud! Chase is a great guy & he obviously makes great beer.. both of these breweries would be nothing without him.

Wow the haters are out today. What we fail to see in this is that all of this is a win for Oklahoma. Remember when we had only Choc? Not taking away from Choc at all. NEWS flash Oklahoma beer fans, it is OK to like offerings from all breweries, you don’t have to discount everyone else to like another. This isn’t OU/OSU.

To say Marshall is bad is just ignorance at play, do I like all their beers? Nope, I do like the Arrowhead and I agree should be an IPA not a PA, but who gives a rat really, it is still good. Big Jamoke is a solid porter, a style that can be different things.

No one will like all of any one breweries offerings, I don’t like all of Dogfish’s offerings doesn’t mean they are a bad brew house.

COOP? Man where would OKC be in the beer scene w/o these guys? Ask Greg at Tapwerks what his top beer sales are, he will tell you. COOP, so I guess that means OKC has bad taste in some books. Native Amber is a solid beer, go to a national beer even where these guys are pouring, you will see it.

Sure Chase got them started, but don’t discount Blake who is a solid brewer. Ask Chase he will even tell you. The beer they make today is an evolution from what it was 2 years ago, always striving to perfect.

Redbud? Here is a solid starter in OKC, Chase knows what he is doing, he is having fun doing it and that is his thing and he does it well. I think the PA is ok, but that is my opinion, another will like it more. That is what is great here, all these amazing offerings that a mere 2-4 years ago we didn’t even have. I guess we could go back to drinking Shiner and belly ache about how we have boring beers.

Well said Steve. Haters gonna hate.
There is now a beer culture in OKC and the best way to cultivate it is drinking. Life is good.

Since Oklahoma beer is 2.4 or 1.6 or whatever- what does it even matter?

Hey Kirk – math is hard. You might try a different subject.

Obviously Art is in the eye of the beholder and the same goes for beer. Base your vote for the beer that TASTES the best to you not on gossip. Remember, there are two sides to every story. The brewer is not the only person in a brewery that makes a beer fantastic…it takes a talented team! I vote for COOP because it is a good quality delivcious flavor.

Wow, Who is the ignorant ass up there named Jason? Do you even know what you are talking about?

Kirk,
I suspect you may not be aware of this. But beer sold in grocery stores has to be 3.2 abv, Liquor stores can sell what ever they please as far as ABV is concerned.

Breweries that are not brew pubs are not restricted to the 3.2 rule provided they don’t sell to grocery stores. This is why you can only buy Oklahoma Beers in restaurants and bars with a license for high point beverages.

This doesn’t mean that an Oklahoma brewery can’t brew up some 3.2 and then sale it in restaurants or grocery stores.

And Kirk, Do some more research my friend. The only low-point beer in the state is BMC and the like. All liquor store beer is above 3.2%

You Okies don’t know a thing about a good beer. Keep drinking your water in Joke-lahoma, losers.

Coop beer is average. Jason is right.

This is funny. Cheers to COOP, we are all friends.

No Rochefort 10?? That’s like have the NCAA tourny w/o Duke!!

lol @ George..
