I think session beers are essential to the craft beer movement. My best example is my most recent experiences watching Thunder games. I have been getting together with friends at various bars throughout the playoffs to watch the Thunder games. Counting a little pre-game and post-game time, it is about 3 hours. If I want to be anywhere near coherent by the end of the game, I need to drink beers in the 4-5% range. If not for quality craft options in that range, I would be stuck with Bud, Miller, or Coors. So although I love a big 10% Imperial Stout as much as the next guy, I can't with any sanity, start pounding those back during a 3 hour long "session"
