Breaking beer news: Oklahoma Craft Beer Fest in doubt
Big-time breaking beer news this morning: The Oklahoma Craft Beef Festival is not likely to go ahead as scheduled, organizers have said.
The state’s ABLE Commission apparently has informed organizers that the event as set up is illegal. Here is a statement from the OCBF:
“Attention Craft Beer Lovers: The ABLE Commission has informed us that our event is illegal. We are trying to figure out a way to keep the event on track, but so far it is not looking very good. They made us suspend tickets sales last Friday. Hopefully we are able to figure this out today. If not, then we might have to postpone until next year. Stay tuned…”
This is not good news folks. I will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

This is crappy news on a sleep-deprived Tuesday. But if sales were suspended last Friday, why are we just now hearing about this from TapWerks/OCBF??
Dan: I suspect TapWerks didn’t say anything sooner because they were trying to work on a resolution with ABLE before making any announcements. I’ve got a message in with TapWerks to get some clarity.
Nick…One suggestion, and I left a message on the Welcome to Bricktown (OCBW) blog site – have TapWerks staff contact Chris Milum at Learn To Brew in Moore, OK (405) 793-2337. Chris held the Beerfest event last Summer and knows all of ABLE’s hoops and snares, when it comes to a commercial (and homebrew) public event. Chris might be able to provide some guidance in getting through the event process. I know the whole process took quite some time. BREW!!! Gary
According to the news on Facebook, it looks like you were right Nick. Apparently ABLE has contacted TapWerks and they’re hammering out the details to make this happen. Cheers!!

Total BS
