A little late with your Lent plans?
A chap in Iowa has a novel plan for Lent this year: Subsisting on beer only for 46 days!
The man, a beer blogger and homebrewer in Iowa, is modeling his “fast” on liquid fasts taken by German monks in the 17th century.
The plan calls for four beers on weekdays, each one checking in at 12 oz., 6.67 %ABV and 288 calories. On Saturday and Sunday he can have five of the dopplebock-style brews.
This all sounds like a fine plan, until you consider 46 days on an 1,110-calorie-per-day diet. I have a better plan for Lent: I’m swearing off bad beer for the whole 46 days.
