Marshall Brewing claims golden tap handle trophy
In one of the most highly anticipated trophy presentations in the history of beer competitions — maybe even in the history of the modern world — Wes Alexander of Marshall Brewing Co. on Tuesday accepted the prestigious golden tap handle trophy, recognizing Marshall McNellie’s Pub Ale’s win in November’s third annual Beer Championship Series.
First, yes, February 22 is a long way from November. I blame the delay in getting the trophy to Marshall on:
1. Holidays
2. Snow
3. General laziness on my part
That being said, it was a great honor to present the trophy to Marshall, clearing the way for what surely will be a forthcoming invite from President Barack Obama for a ceremony at the White House. I hope Marshall will display the trophy with pride at its Tulsa headquarters until later this year, when The Thirsty Beagle will reclaim the trophy in advance of the fourth annual BCS.
Until then, congrats again to McNellie’s Pub Ale and Marshall Brewing on the back-to-back BCS title.
