Choc brings home trio of medals

Choc Beer Co. recently pulled a medal sweep at the North American Beer Awards, bringing home a gold for its Signature Dubbel, a silver for its Signature Quad and a bronze for Waving Wheat. This is especially big news for Signature Dubbel, which claimed gold last year at the Great American Beer Festival. I have a bottle of Dubbel in the fridge right now; I’m saving it for some undetermined special event that calls for its opening. That’s how good the beer is, folks. If you’ve not tried it, you owe it to yourself to sample this world-class beer. Congrats to Choc on the great showing. Below is a press release from Choc with more information. (Note the part about Signature Quad coming out in 12-oz bottles. Might we see all of Choc’s Signature Series in 12-oz bottles at some point?)

Choc Beer Wins Three Medals at North American Beer Awards

Krebs —  Oklahoma’s own Choc Beer Company won  a gold, silver, and bronze medal at last Friday’s 2010 North American Beer Awards in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Over 1,200 beers from across the world entered the competition.  Choc’s gold medal was awarded to Signature Dubbel, the silver to Signature Quad, and the bronze to Waving Wheat.  These are the latest in a series of wins at major beer competitions for Choc.  Recent awards include a gold medal for Signature Dubbel at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, a bronze award at the 2010 World Beer Cup (Signature Quad), and a silver medal at the 2009 North American Beer Awards for Waving Wheat.

Choc Brewmaster Michael Lalli, detailed what the awards mean to Choc: “Every medal we are able to win is a thrill!  It helps people who are unfamiliar with Choc realize we make world class beer.”

Lalli also spoke about Choc’s recent and repeated successes: “Winning one medal is great but the second, and third medals prove we are able to continually and consistently produce world class beer.”

Signature Dubbel and Waving Wheat are currently available across Choc’s distribution network.  Limited quantities of Signature Quad are also available.  Signature Quad will be widely available in 12 and 22 ounce bottles by mid July.  All three beers are produced year round.

Signature Dubbel and Signature Quad are traditional abbey style ales brewed to the high standards created by the Trappist breweries of Belgium.  Signature Dubbel is a deep ruby red color and is highlighted by dark fruit and spice notes.  Signature Quad is a darker, mahogany hue with more concentrated  notes of fruits and spice. Waving Wheat is Belgian style white ale brewed with spices and citrus fruit.

Choc Beer Company is a family owned brewery located in Krebs, Oklahoma.  Choc has produced fine beers for four generations.  Choc currently produces ten years round beers augmented by seasonal releases.  Choc beers are distributed throughout Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, and Minnesota.

The North American Beer Awards is an annual competition sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association.  The competition, in its fourteenth year, is held in conjunction with the association’s Mountain Brewers Beer Fest in Idaho Fall, Idaho.  For more information on the awards or festival visit the association’s website, northamericanbrewers.org.
