Beer and basketball combined for new iPhone app.
As The Thirsty Beagle, I get all kinds of beer-related press releases sent to my e-mail. Some of them — like last week’s announcement that Choc and Marshall will introduce a collaborative beer — are quite relevant to an Oklahoma beer blogger. Others — like one about some kind of whiskey at a bar in New York — not so much. But I got one today that piqued my interest: It combined beer, March Madness and the iPhone. It’s as if the sender of the release was speaking to me personally through the Internet. Let me just take a detour to give you my priorities in life:
1. Family
2. a) Sports
2. b) Beer
2. c) My iPhone (specifically the Words With Friends app.)
There you have it. I’m a simple man, and when someone sends me a press release that hits on 75 percent of my priorities, I’m going to take note. The press release is about a new, free iPhone app. that calls for spinning a basketball on a bottle of Miller Lite. The app., Tip ‘n Spin, is simple and fairly addictive. As far as one-trick-pony iPhone apps. go — hello, Finger Sprint! — this one’s not too shabby. The e-mail I got billed it as being released “Just in time for March Madness!” I’m sure they could have released it at any time of the year, because it really doesn’t have anything to do with March Madness other than the basketball theme. And, I guess, the fact that I will celebrate March Madness with a couple beers. Those beer marketers are always so savvy.
