Preakness bans BYOB

Officials with the Preakness (horse racing, Triple Crown) have decided to ban attendees from bringing their own beer – or any beverage, for that matter – into the infield for the big race on May 16. Beer will still be available for purchase, and at $3.50 per 16-ounce cup, it’s not that bad a deal. But if you asked the average beer fan what they preferred, paying $3.50 per cup of beer or toting in their own cooler full of beer, I’m pretty sure they’d choose the latter.

Although, if you examine the visual evidence from last year’s race, you’ll find…

1. People don’t always display the best taste

and…

2. Maybe having Natty Light grenades lobbed at a guy sprinting across the roofs of the port-a-potties isn’t so great for PR purposes.
