You know you’ll be shopping anyway
Odds are you’re going to do some type of holiday shopping this year, so you might as well help out homeless animals while you’re doing it.
The charity Bring Pets Home has partnered with more than 140 retailers – yes, more than 140! – to help you maximize your holiday cheer. How? Go to www.bringpetshome.org when you do your online shopping this holiday season. Find the retailer you want. When you click on that store through Bring Pets Home, a part of your sale will be given back to the organization, which benefits shelter pets nationwide. (The percent varies by retailer. For example, Walmart gives back 4 percent. iTunes gives 5 percent. Some places even give up to 10 percent.)
So, this Christmas considering combining three fantastic things: shopping, the holidays and helping animals.

Oklahoma City Pet of the Week
There are many wonderful Labradors in the shelter’s adoption center right now. We have chocolate, black, and yellow. Nike is a 1-year-old Lab who loves cats, dogs, and kids. He’s housebroken and enjoys car rides and going on walks. His number at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter is 36720.
The adoption fee for cats and dogs is $25. This includes spay or neuter, shots and health check.

Sofie is a spayed female, orange tabby domestic longhair. She is about five years old and is current on her vaccinations. She has been at the shelter since Aug. 26.
Vanilla is a neutered male, orange and white domestic shorthair. She is about 9 months old and is current on her vaccinations. She has been at the shelter since Sept. 17.
Adoption fees are $70 for cats and dogs at Edmond Animal Welfare Shelter, 2424 Old Timbers Drive in Cross Timbers Municipal Complex off Covell Road east of Interstate 35. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Saturdays are only for adoptions and pickups.

Bella is ready to help her new family pass out the Halloween candy. She’s a friendly 1-year-old Labrador mix who likes to play with other dogs and is housebroken. Bella would love to go to the dog park. Her number at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter is 34628.
