Stop decorating your animals
Why do people insist on doing things like this to their dogs? This is from the Sandy Paws Grooming Shop’s Creative Grooming Awards.
At right, you will notice a poodle groomed to look like Leonardo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I am surprised this dog is willing to wear a bandana across its eyes, and I can’t imagine it is comfortable.
Below, you will find video of some guy tattooing pigs. Why?
It should be said that this kind of thing is illegal in Oklahoma City. As I discovered a couple of years ago during a fish tattooing controversy, artificially coloring your dog’s fur is against the law. This was primarily because of the practice of dyeing rabbits around Easter, but applies to dogs as well. Tattooing fish or pigs or any other pet is also illegal. Is there anything wrong with a poodle looking like a poodle? Does a pig really need a tat to look interesting?
I think not.

Pigs get tattoos
I did a story a while back that got more feedback than just about anything I’ve done. The city council banned the practice of tattooing fish, which surprised a lot of people who had no idea anyone was tattooing fish.
Apparently owners of an art gallery in Shanghai agree in spirit with the Oklahoma City Council, as they have banned designer tattooed pigs from an art show.
A Belgian artist tattooed the pigs as part of an art exhibition, but gallery owners found it in poor taste. I have nothing against tattoos, but I doubt if a pig would freely choose to be tatted with the Louis Vutton logo. Maybe if he let the get inked with a lovely slop design…

Halloween is coming
Is your dog ready?
My pup, Huey, has a cute little devil costume which is funny for its irony. Huey is well-behaved and cute as the dickens. About as non-scary as you can get.
If you don’t have any good ideas, here is a link to a photo gallery with a whole bunch of dogs in costumes. It’s also a good link if you just need a laugh or a good daily dose of cute.

Chihuahuas are most expensive
It seems that a new study shows that chihuahuas are the most expensive dog breed over their lifetimes. This story states that chihuahuas cost their owners more than 6,000 pounds a year. One U.S. dollar equals about .6 of a British pound.
The story goes on to state that the reason for this probably could be that many wealthy people, including celebrities, seem to prefer the small breed and pampering it. I guess diamond studded collars can really add up.
I must admit it is fun to put little shirts and sweaters on my chihuahua, but I don’t go this far for sure. Besides, George thinks he doesn’t need clothes.

Good idea? Maybe not.
So here’s an idea for you cat owners. We found this Web site with cat wigs. They come in all kinds of colors and styles and sit nicely on top of kitty heads. They can wear a stylish pink flip or a shocking electric blue number. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that would happen in my house. I don’t think Cottonball would ever consent to wearing a wig. My biggest question is how do the wigs stay on? Maybe some of you want to give it a try! Good luck.
