Resolutions for your pet
As we all get ready to make our New Year’s resolutions – lose weight? save money? quit smoking? – the American Kennel Club reminds us to include the family pet in your plans. Here are some things they recommend:
- Training. Whether your dog is young or old, manners and socialization are important.
- Consider competition. You can find dog events just about anywhere in the country.
- Work out. Like people, pets face an obesity epidemic. Walk your dogs and play with your cats.
- Volunteer. Dogs love service. Teach your pup to visit the ill or serve as a search dog. Volunteer at a library for a children’s reading program. Dogs are great listeners.
- Travel together.
I think this year I’ll make a few resolutions that include my dogs.
- Walk more.
- Play more.
- Stop whining.
