Homeless Owners and Pets Find Help
A homeless shelter in Belgium has opened its doors to pet owners this winter. Organizers hope the move will encourage homeless people with pets to come to the shelter instead of staying outside in the cold.
Welfare officials have agreed to house the pets at a local soccer club when temperatures are freezing because people often won’t come inside without their dogs no matter how cold it gets.
All of the spots have been filled since the service started and organizers said the hope the plan spreads to other cities.
