Woman killed by her pet snake
Police believe a Virginia Beach, Va. woman was strangled to death recently by her pet python.
Amanda Ruth Black, 25, was found dead by her husband in a bedroom of their home. The 13-foot tiger python’s cage was open. Authorities believe she died from asphyxiation.
Police believe she was trying to give the snake medication when it attacked her. The snake was found in the bedroom. It took two animal control officers to catch and restrain it. It is now being held by the Virginia Beach Bureau of Animal Control.

Halloween is coming
Is your dog ready?
My pup, Huey, has a cute little devil costume which is funny for its irony. Huey is well-behaved and cute as the dickens. About as non-scary as you can get.
If you don’t have any good ideas, here is a link to a photo gallery with a whole bunch of dogs in costumes. It’s also a good link if you just need a laugh or a good daily dose of cute.

Trucker’s pup taken to pound in McAlester
So this trucker from Arkansas is arrested Wednesday on allegations he pointed a loaded gun at another driver, the McAlester News Capital reports.
As if that weren’t a bad enough situation, truck driver John Goff had his pup with him. After he was arrest, the poor pooch wound up in the clink, too.
After police arrested Goff, an animal control officer came to the scene to take hold of a small dog in Goff’s cab, shown in this picture here.
Police say the whole ordeal began because of an incident of road rage.
So, long story short: leave you gun and your dog at home.

City, shelter hash out details in Inola
Details are still sketchy between Inola Volunteer Animal Rescue and the city, The Claremore Daily Progress is reporting. The group agreed to a trial agreement back in August, but now it appears the circumstances will change. Originally, the rescue group was going to operate a shelter on city land. But now they’re hoping to operate a shelter on private land but function as the city’s shelter.

Woman fights deer
A woman in Montana recently got into a fistfight with a deer after it attacked one of her poodles.
Carol Lince, 61, was at her home about 35 miles southeast of Butte when she heard one of her three poodles dogs let out a loud yelp. She went outside and found a lage doe ramming the dog into the ground with its head.
Lince kicked the deer’s hind legs to get it off of her dog. She didn’t count on the deer wheeling around to attack her.
She said the deer head-butted her in the abdomen and knocked her into her fence. That’s when Lince came out swinging, pummeling the deer in th head with her fists. The doe eventually gave up the fight, juming Lince’s fence and running off.
The poodle, whose name is Little Fighter, was examined by Lince’s vet and found to be OK . Lince has brusies on her stomach from the encounter.
Wildlife officials said deer, like any wild animal, can become aggressive towards people or pets.

Meet Fluffy
Fluffy is an animal created by Melissa Bech, a Houston pet-blogger, who used the shed hair of her dog Tony to create a furry ball with a face to prove she wasn’t joking when she said she could make a small animal after brushing him.
I’m lucky. My pup, Huey, is small and short-haired. My apartment is certainly filled with tiny black hairs, but it is not nearly as noticeable as the hair my friend and fellow Pet Show blogger Carrie has to deal with. Her two larger dogs, Deter and Skye, shed like it’s going out of style.
At least now she has an idea for something to do with that hair — make them a new friend.
