Puppy Mill Legislation

Pennsylvania lawmakers have passed a new puppy mill law that doubles cage space for dogs in commercial breeding facilities, prohibits wire flooring and stacking of cages. The law also requires veterinary visits twice a year, exercise and that animals be humanely euthanized by veterinarians.

The governor signed the bill Thursday, which was the day after it passed and all changes became effective immediately. The Americans for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals lobbied in the state, that some dubbed the Puppy Mill Capitol of the East. Congratulations Pennsylvania and all those puppies.
