Italians to Create Pet DNA Database
It seems that Oklahoma City residents are not the only ones who have to dispose of their pets’ excrement or face fines, but this northern Italian town is taking it a bit further.
Officials plan to create a DNA database of all the registered dogs in the town and then test any feces left to determine who the responsible parties are.
One of the Vercelli councilors said signs and fines haven’t been enough to keep the city clean, so he’s ready to try genetics. The story states that the test will cost about $19 and will be more than paid for with fines.
Perhaps we here in Oklahoma City should just pick up our pets’ leavings and move on!
